About Prairie Rose Schools

Prairie Rose Public Schools is primarily located in southeast Alberta and educates approximately 5,100 students in the communities of Bow Island, Cypress County, the County of 40 Mile, Foremost, MD of Acadia Valley, Oyen, Redcliff, Special Areas, as well as two schools in the City of Calgary. The Division consists of 18 public schools, two outreach schools, two alternative program schools, and 18 Hutterite colony schools. The central office is located in Dunmore, Alberta, near the city of Medicine Hat.

About Calgary Islamic Schools

Calgary Islamic School (CIS) provides an Islamic learning environment with a commitment to using effective teaching pedagogy to cultivate and advance a comprehensive academic program, which is fully compliant with the Alberta curriculum of studies. CIS is a K-12 alternative school faith-based program operated under Prairie Rose Public Schools with two Calgary campuses. The program offers an education designed to foster achievement to prepare students in pursuing higher education and successful careers. It is our aim to empower students by cultivating their interests and refining their academic skills as strong Canadian Muslims.

AJ Campus

Calgary Islamic School – Akram Jomaa Campus includes a student body over 1,000 students from Kindergarten through Grade 12, representing a wide range of cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. Many of our students are English Language Learners who bring rich perspectives to the classroom. CIS students are actively engaged in both co- curricular and extracurricular activities and are encouraged to pursue academic excellence, personal growth, and religious commitment.

OBK Campus

Calgary Islamic School – Omar Bin Al-Khattab Campus offers a dynamic K–9 learning environment of 600 students rooted in Islamic values and academic excellence. Our school is committed to providing students with a balanced education that nurtures faith, develops knowledge, and inspires ingenuity. Through the integration of modern teaching practices and a curriculum fully aligned with Alberta Education standards, we prepare students to excel in higher education and thrive in their future careers as confident Canadian-Muslim citizens.
